Due to the Holiday of Labor day, the Beehive Tea Room will be closed, so UUPS will have no meeting. Plan on meeting later in the week to plan for Pagan Pride Day this upcoming Saturday, September 10!! Maybe Wednesday, Thursday Night. We need at least four people to man the table at the festival so we can all have turns instead of being glued to our seats all day. I’ll send out an email update for our Pagan Pride Planing meeting. See you all then!

She enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading, writing, film making, pin-up modeling, play video games and watching movies. Her guilty pleasures include Law and Order, Keanu Reeves and Abba. Kirsten studies divination, dream interpretation, folk lore and psychic awareness.  She currently lives with her daughter, Willow, in Midvale with their 2 cats and a host of fae visitors.” “I am very excited to have her on board. Its high time we have someone who is capable and committed. There are many things we do that have a need for a PR person from scheduling rooms, planning rituals with other groups and communicating with different authors we are thinking about bringing in.” Said President Daniel Cureton. UUPS is pleased to announce the addition of a new sponsor to its ranks: Crone’s Hollow of Salt Lake City.

“I was very pleased when the folks from CH called us up and said they wanted to sponsor us. We couldn’t believe what we were hearing! Such a prominent and famous establishment that is well respected by the community wanted to sponsor us?? We were astounded and very happy” Said President Daniel Cureton.

One of the things UUPS is looking forward to is building a relationship with Crone’s Hollow, using the space there for ritual on occasion, and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere that Crone’s Hollow has.

Harry Potter! Harry Potter! At least that’s what the members of UUPS were singing on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:20pm… the premiere of the 8th and final film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows II

Megaplex 12 at the Gateway played host to a large number of Harry Potter fans. The crowed was a mix of muggles and wizarding folk. The movie itself was packed full of action, love, death, tragedy and a great story line.

“It was an amazing film. So well done. I was so sad to see it end. I just need to keep telling myself that there are the stories and that I can retell them to kids and find different was of keeping them alive in the future” Said Amber Hafen.

Many tears were shed after the final scene. Young boys and girls, adults, elderly, UUPS members were all wiping their faces. “I was so sad when it ended. I feel like it’s equal to the space shuttle program… an era in human history is over. I grew up with Harry and his friends since I was 13. Now I know how those who were present when Star Wars first Came out, or Star Trek feel. The ending of a great saga which has greatly impacted human history.  I think Harry has done a great service to the

(L to R: April Love, Amber Hafen, Daniel Cureton)           pagan community and how non pagans view the magical community. The HP impact seems to be a positive one.” Said President Daniel Cureton.

Most of the members of UUPS and others are trying their best to have a positive outlook like Amber; finding a way to keep the stories alive. Some have even suggested they might write Harry Potter fan fiction novels

Gratitude… one spell that isn’t seen in many books. Thanksgiving is one of the most humbling and best ways to dive deep into spiritual workings. UUPS always makes it a point to honor (there are lots of honoring spells) and give thanks to deities whose days pass throughout the year. President Daniel Cureton lead the ceremony.

This time it was Columbia, the goddess of America. A few faithful UUPS members met by moon light under a pine tree on Saturday, July 2, 2011 and gave an offering of traditional American food: hot dogs and tater-tots with milk. On the altar were quarter candles and patriotic themed flowers for the Goddess.

Everyone felt humbled and thankful afterward as the presence of Columbia descended and accepted these offerings.

UUPS is very pleased to announce the new sponsorship by The Church of the Sacred Circle.

Reverend Lady Avalon Starr contacted UUPS in May indicating CSC wanted to sponsor UUPS, and on board they came!

“I am very happy to have the support of such a wonderful group of people and such a respectable organization like The Church of the Sacred Circle. I have been off and on, more off than on, to their events and it has always, always been a safe, inclusive and respectable atmosphere, especially by the clergy and especially by Lady Starr” said president Daniel Cureton.

What the new sponsorship means is that CSC gets a new sponsor packet, with a certificate and information sheet detailing what their sponsorship means. UUPS gets the benefit of having an organization that has a long good standing in the community to lean on.

Right now UUPS hasn’t set any dollar limit to being a sponsor. All organizations and people interested may contact UUPS indicating their desire to become apart of Salt Lake City’s only group of inclusive student and community pagans and non pagans dedicated to Education, Awareness and Inclusion.
