SLPS had a wonderful time reading tarot and participating in the 2018 Utah Pride Festival. The theme for the event this year was “Get Salty.” The festival was held at the usual City and County Building June 2-3. The Utah Pride Interfaith Coalition kicked off services Thursday, May 31 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. SLPS was in attendance as the one of the Pagan faith representatives.

Many folks came by for readings, all for $10. The Merqueen, formerly of Mermaids of the Great Salt Lake  and her wife marched with SLPS in the parade Sunday, June 3.

SLPS read for a third year in a row at the 2018 SLC International Tattoo Convention Saturday and Sunday March 24-25 at the Salt Palace Convention Center. $10 readings for the tattoo goes and artists. We were placed next to another piercer/reader by the competition area, but all was well, with a total of 30 readings being done.

SLPS enjoyed a pleasant, hot day at Liberty Park at the 16th Annual Salt Lake City Pagan Pride Day on Saturday, August 12, 2017. The day was clear, with a bright shining sun. President Muad’Dib opened the festivities with a morning druid ritual to the Celtic sun god Lugh at 10am. Twenty five people gathered, hands were raised, and the drinking horn passed around in offering to open the wallets of customers, promote inclusivity, and all around good Pagan community.

A steady flow of patrons came through the park. SLPS read tarot and palms. It was very hot at points in the afternoon, and the food vendor failed to show, but frozen ice cones cooled those in the park. About twenty five vendors showed from across Utah and Montana. Raven Digitalis was present signing his newly released booked Esoteric Empathy: A Magickal and Metaphysical Guide to Sensitivity. He led the closing right, an alchemical ceremony to Baphomet at 5pm.

Thanks to all who attend and helped at the booth at this year’s Utah Pride Festival. We had an eventful weekend on Saturday and Sunday June 2-3, 2012 in downtown SLC, which included the interfaith service, interfaith march, Sunday’s parade and free tarot readings at the booth! We had so many people wanting readings that we had to turn folks away when the gates closed. Wait time was over an hour! But we feel grateful being able to help and bring solace, validation and guidance to those seeking answers. Those of us that marched in the parade could feel the wealth of gratitude washing over us as we were cheered on and thanked for being the only Pagan representation at the parade and festival! We even had pagans from Logan join us in the middle of the march! All in all it was a success and UUPS can’t wait for next year! Check out the photos below!

UUPS had the great opportunity to table at spring term’s PlazaFest at the U of U on January 11, 2012. Muad’Dib and UUPS adviser Woman Between the Wolves gave away pamphlets, talked with students and had a general old Pagan time while letting others know there is a safe, inclusive environment where all can come who are seeking or interested in alternative earth based spiritualities.

Thanks to all who came and helped out at the booth at this years Salt Lake Pagan Pride Day. This year’s was hosted by Crone’s Hollow on Main street on September 10, 2011 from 9am-6pm. The smaller space was unable to allow for all the vendors that usually would have came. UUPS gave away lots of information, met new people, discussed why we’re here and even had a few people sign up! Live rock music provided by Lady of the Lake set the scene as the sun rose high in the sky before we were all rained out about 4:00 pm. As a bronze sponsor of Pagan Pride Day in Salt Lake City, UUPS was happy to attend, renew friendships, relationships and provide the support and inclusive of the pagan community in the Salt Lake Valley. Till next year!

Well with everything settled down again, it’s time for reports! We had a successful venture at the LGBTQ Pride Festival a few weekends ago  Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5, 2011. Many folks stopped by our table and signed up for the newsletter and updates. A few people paid dues and became members, took information and all together enjoyed our presence. All of the newsletters we took (About 50) we’re gone on Saturday. A few folks even felt generous enough to put a few dollars in our donations can. All in all, it was a success! So now it’s back to the old routine of full moons and holidays, but not to worry, many events and activities are coming up this summer!

This past April 30 UUPS had a great opportunity to table at the 2011 Earth Jam Festival held in Salt Lake City’s Liberty Park.

Earth Jam is a non-profit organization that raises awareness of environmental issues with a free festival and free concerts.

The weather was not favorable on this morning, with upwards of eight inches of snow in the valley. The sun did come out later to shine its face and warm up the participants and vendors.

“The weather was awful, cold, snowy and some wind. Despite that, we did have about fifteen people sign up to receive our newsletter and many people stopped by for information and pamphlets” said President Muad’Dib.

President Muad’Dib even secured a five minute speaking spot between stage changes of the bands to talk about the group. He commented, “I spoke for a few minutes, but no one was really listening. The problem really was that no one was there because of the weather!  A few lolly gaggers, but they all left once I got to the mic.”

Sorry President Muad’Dib! Hopefully next years Earth Jam will have Gaia treating the crowds with a more tender fist!

UUPS got its first booth for U of U Welcome Week August 26, 2010. Set up on the Student Union west lawn and thankfully in the shade, the sun rose in the August sky and students passed by. Plenty of Pagan literature was on the table for those interested in Paganism. The new club is up and going and is recruiting well.
