SLPS enjoyed a fun evening reading free Celtic tarot for the University of Utah students at their bi-annual Crimson Nights event on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 10-2am. The line for readings didn’t end till about 1:30 am, and a few trickled in till 2. Some even asked for palm readings. Many of the students had never had a reading, which is usually the case. Though SLPS has been reading at Crimson Nights for three years, very few are repeat patrons.

Since 2015’s garden was highly successful, the society will be planting a garden for 2016. This year the space with be expanded to included more room for pumpkins, asparagus, garlic, and other heirloom plants of choice by the society members.

SLPS President Muad’Dib and Vice President Shy Fox worked in the evening on Sunday, March 20, 2016 to clean and clear the old dead plants and evaluate the space. Surprisingly, a number of plants survived the winter! A few of the onions, one parsley, oregano, both cabbage plants, and all of the collard greens!

The old dead leaves were plucked off the cabbage and collards and the space cleaned for what is to come. Because some plants went to seed, the society expects to have a few self starters for dill and tomatillo.

The members of SLPS met under descending sun and half moon on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 6pm to honor and celebrate the Germanic Goddess Ostara. The altar was decorated with flowers from the society garden-daffodils, the first to come up in spring. The circles were invoked, and a meditation to ground the members took place. Everyone enjoyed the song “Ostara” by Lisa Thiel on her album Circle of the Seasons.

The Goddess spoke to all present, giving them guidance for the new season of spring. Offerings of juice and eggs were given, and thanks for her continual support and blessings. Hern was honored as well, the young god with mighty loins who will soon marry the Goddess at Beltane.

The feat included baked chicken, potato salad, and succotash with lemon bunt cake for dessert. Some after dinner equinox gaming was in order, with a few rounds of Mahjong tiles and backgammon .

SLPS had a lovely weekend reading tarot for the attendees of the 13th Annual Salt Lake City International Tattoo Convention from March 4-6, 2016. With the buzz of guns, the many guests wandering received ink from artist form all across the country and internationally. A few local shops were present such as Heavy Duty of Ogden, Lost Art, Big Deluxe, Good Times, Painted Temple, Oni, A.S.I., Iron Clad/Anchor Ink, and King of Swords all of Salt Lake. Just about all types of colors, styles, images, were drawn and body parts were tattooed, as people lied on tables, sat in chairs, and shopped for merchandise while seeing their favorite artist and meeting new ones.

SLPS used the Tarot of the Tattoo Age, created by the organizer of the convention. Many people came to ask the tarot their questions and get first time readings. Some even wanted palm readings afterwards. This was the first time tarot readings have been part of the convention… and SLPS had the honor of being the first readers. The readings were well received by the tattoo community.

SLPS enjoyed a good day, doing readings with the Tarot of a Thousand and One Nights at the 15th Annual Springfest on Saturday, March 5, 2016, put on by Thia. Each March the festival takes place in the Utah State Fairground promontory building and includes vendors, food, music, and more importantly, the belly dance troupes who perform from 10am to 10pm!

Those who came for readings enjoyed the tarot and its Middle Eastern theme. This was the fourth year SLPS has participated in the event and plans to enjoy many more years!
