SLPS enjoyed a fun evening reading free Celtic tarot for the University of Utah students at their bi-annual Crimson Nights event on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 10-2am. The line for readings didn’t end till about 1:30 am, and a few trickled in till 2. Some even asked for palm readings. Many of the students had never had a reading, which is usually the case. Though SLPS has been reading at Crimson Nights for three years, very few are repeat patrons.

SLPS enjoys doing free tarot for students, and the organization had such an opportunity at the Spring 2016 Plazafest at the University of Utah! The event was held in the Student Union Ballroom from 10-2pm on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the University of Utah.

Many students stopped by for reading at the lunch hour. Daniel Cureton used his Deviant Moon tarot and April Love used her Robin Wood deck. A few students even changed their minds after readings, saying they believed it was Satanic/demonic, but afterwards were made aware how accurate, how simple, and how demon free it is! SLPS hope all those who had readings have a great semester!

SLPS had a great time reading free tarot for the students at the Fall Crimson Nights on Friday, October 23, 2015. Themed out for “Halloween Nightmare”, everyone was dressed in various costumes. We were placed with Kim’s Creatures in the Student Union Den. April Love, Daniel Cureton, and Ashton Longhurst brought their decks and the Samhain table cloth. Daniel and April had a special Halloween Tarot by Karin Lee they used for the themed event. Ashton used his standard Wildwood tarot by John Matthews.

“We had an endless line like usual. Many students, about 100 I’d say came in the 3 hour period from 10pm to 1am.  They usually put us with Kim’s Creatures at the events, as this is the 3rd time the Pagans have been paired with the creatures together, which we love animals so it’s a natural fit” said Ashton Longhurst.

Everyone was worn out by the end of the night! “It’s always a tone of work, but the 10th reading I’m reading to go, but I’m a trooper and know I’m there to help students” said April Love.

SLPS thanks the Union Programming Council (UPC) and looks forward to reading again at the spring 2016 Crimson Nights!

SLPS had a wonderful time reading tarot at the U of U Fall Plazafest Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Always a fun time, the students flock to the table for free readings and advice, wanting to know how their semesters are going to go. Daniel Cureton and April Love had a table next to the Chinese Christian Church and another Christian group who were recruiting. It rained slightly, but the clouds passed and the rain didn’t bother anyone. Serving the students is a fantastic way to perform community outreach and service, helping them set their lives in order so they can perform their best with their studies.

The 12th annual Salt Lake Pagan Pride Day was a success! The festival began at 10am on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Murray Park’s pavilions 1, 2, and 3 and lasted till 6pm. SLPS had a beautiful sacred space set up and offered free tarot readings. The shops Gypsy wagon of American Fork, UT, and The Typsy Gypies of Lehi, UT were the neighbors for the day on either side of the SLPS. booth. The day opened with the morning ritual by the Four Dragons Clann of the 1734 Tradition and people filing in for free readings. As noontime approached, the heavens opened and rain poured down for twenty minutes on everyone. Most of the guests took cover under the canopies and pavilions and watched the bards and belly dancers perform their art. The rained stopped and the people returned. 4pm brought the closing ritual by Harts Hearth Clan of Grantsville. They performed a ceremony to Frey And Freyja in the northern asatru tradition. 6pm was the close and everyone packed up to return home till next year’s pride. Till we meet again!
