SLPS had a great time helping Church of the Sacred Circle at their 2015 Spring psychic fair “Rite of Spring” on Saturday, May 8, 2015 from 4-8 pm. Even though it was a rainy and overcast day, the fair was busy with patrons coming for tarot, angel, astrological, and palm readings. Some came for healing, others to find their destiny, with question about school, work, and love. President Daniel Cureton had a great time reading palms and using his Deviant Moon Tarot.

Twice a year SLPS has an opportunity to do service. This fall brought it around on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at one of the bi-annual psychic fairs called “Fall Wonders” at the Church of the Sacred Circle in West Valley. The large yurt is accommodating to up to ten readers and people at a time. A fire was going in the pit, and a pagan vendor was selling geodes and kambucha on the side. Sergey Khrushchev, Daniel Cureton and April Love worked as readers, donating the money earned to the Church. The fair went from 12-8 and had waves of customers coming in, seeking advice with the cards and oracles, as well as getting their astrological carts read by Heron Herodia, one of the leaders of CSC at whose back yard the yurt sits on.

The wheel has turned and Samhain has come and gone. Thanks to all whom attended the combined UUPS and Sunstave Samhain ritual and feast on Saturday, October 27, 2012 6pm.

The temple area was decorated with the altars and tables with their elemental associations. Flowers and gourds were placed on the main altar and a special ancestral table was placed in the west for people to set items of loved ones onto. Arianrhod watched over the table while the event took place.

Everyone entered the circle space after the circle was cast and were cleansed with sage and holy water. President Daniel Cureton opened the circle in the druid fashion and had the quarters called afterwards.

What first took place was a calming chant We Are the Old Ones, followed by the death of Cernunnos, who left us to go to the land of spirits to await rebirth at Yule. Hades then was channeled by president Cureton and spoke to the circle before interacting with gate keeper of the west. The Gate Keeper, played by Iyata Bond, offered her soul in payment for a few minutes with the spirits of the dead. Hades, being so honored by her sincerity, open the gate without taking her soul. The spirits of the dead came rushing in to meet and talk with their loved ones. Some reported seeing lovers, parents and even pets that had gone on. In the middle of all this, three hounds were heard in the distance barking madly in the silence.

To the tune of the song Queen Medusa by Whispering Woods, Medusa was seen and heard from next. She joined the circle and took everyone’s problems that they had been dealing with throughout the year and burned them in the new year’s fire. She transformed and supported and will continue to support those whom accepted her offering of help.

The circle and grove were closed and the feasting began. The feast included deviled eggs, funeral potatoes, chicken and butternut squash soup. After the feast brought the Samhain part at the Church of the Sacred Circle temple where all sat by the fire and welcomed the new year while drinking Drunken Oak mead. Check out the photos below!

UUPS is very pleased to announce the new sponsorship by The Church of the Sacred Circle.

Reverend Lady Avalon Starr contacted UUPS in May indicating CSC wanted to sponsor UUPS, and on board they came!

“I am very happy to have the support of such a wonderful group of people and such a respectable organization like The Church of the Sacred Circle. I have been off and on, more off than on, to their events and it has always, always been a safe, inclusive and respectable atmosphere, especially by the clergy and especially by Lady Starr” said president Daniel Cureton.

What the new sponsorship means is that CSC gets a new sponsor packet, with a certificate and information sheet detailing what their sponsorship means. UUPS gets the benefit of having an organization that has a long good standing in the community to lean on.

Right now UUPS hasn’t set any dollar limit to being a sponsor. All organizations and people interested may contact UUPS indicating their desire to become apart of Salt Lake City’s only group of inclusive student and community pagans and non pagans dedicated to Education, Awareness and Inclusion.
