SLPS meeting under sacred pine on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 9pm to celebrate the Fall Equinox. The crickets were in unison, the breeze calm as the altar was dedicated and the candles lit. Ganesh and Bast joined the circle of the ancestors and took in the offerings of pears, watermelon, juice and cookies. Mabon being the second harvest, the fruits were pulled from the Society Garden.

The ritual included music by Lisa Thiel, “Mabon” off the album Circle of the Seasons. Spoken word and poetry were performed in honor of the seaons. Bast and Ganesh came down and spoke to the attendees and accepted the food. He will open the way for individuals to succeed in their inner workings. Each person chose a habit to banish in the Mabon fire.

The feast afterwards with the Gods was beef and barely stew with oreo bards for dessert. A bowl was left out for the Gods to enjoy.

The Gods are Happy! Everyone was blessed at Beltane this year, held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 6pm.

The ritual opened with the usual banishings and circle protections and elemental callings. The altar was decorated in Beltane colors and Celtic Knotwork, symbolizing the eternal nature of the Gods and everyonekinds connection to them. A special commissioned painting by Kurt Shoopman of Kentucky of Ganesh and Pan in the great rite was the centerpiece, symbolizing the Queer nature of divinity and everyonekind.

With drumming and music, the wedding party entered the circle. The God was played by Lunar Oak Spirit and the Goddess was played by Woman Between the Wolves. The declarations of unity, blessings and love was followed by the great rite, with the blade entering the chalice, symbolizing the unity of the Goddess and God to each other as well as to everyonekind.

With the throwing of rice and the reading of Beltane poetry, president Muad’Dib performed a druid rite to Niwalen.  The dancing of the sacred dance around the newly made May Day Pole was next. After some confusion, the pace picked up and the weaving of a tight knotwork took place, to ensure the blessings and desires of everyone who dance till next Beltane.

The feastings included wine, spirits, ribs, steak, greens beans and mushrooms, scalloped potatoes, yellow rice and curry chicken, and three bean salad. Check out the photos below!

Ostara shining face was seen this past Ostara 2014. SLPS held Ostara 2014 on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 6pm. The ritual was done in the New American Tradition by SLPS president Muad’Dib.

With the opening of the ceremony by the LBRP and other rites, the ritual quickly moved to the story of Ostara or Easter. Centering around the Goddess Eostre and her blessing of the bunnies to spread her name, a guided journey to meet the Goddess was performed. Afterward, wildflower seeds were spread in a barren patch of land, to bring new life as spring rolls forward. President Muad’Dib  performed a druid rite of spring to Coel. The cakes and ales included bunny bread rolls made by Rhiannon Watters that were offered up to the Goddess in thanks for the return of Spring, with the song “The Earth is Our Mother” by Libana being chanted in remembrance of our ties and duty to care for the land. The ritual ended peacefully with spring poetry.

The feastings included vegan lentil soup, potato rolls, grilled chicken, spinach and cucumber salad, and enchiladas. With the wine and juice flowing freely, the feastings continued into the night and ended with a few hands of five card poker!

Thanks to everyone who came and participated in the Imbolc ceremony on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Dancing Cranes Imports at 6pm. SLPS helped kick off the 2014 Interfaith Month with Imbolc. Lakshmi stood in since Brigid arrived late. The table was decorated with a handmade table cloth by Woman Between the Wolves in the late winter seasonal design. Flowers, cookies, sparkling apple cider, candles and more all decorated the altar. Since the ritual was squeezed into the small time space of an hour, some creative editing was necessary.

After reading Imbolc poetry, there was singing and dancing, cleansing and blessing, all before Brigid appeared. She stepped in for a visit through one of the mediums and gave spiritual advice to everyone through the tarot. Afterwards, everyone came forward to received blessings from her through sacred fire.

The energy was sent out into the universe at the close and the rest was returned to the living Earth.

The time has come to prepare for what lies ahead…. the dark times! Mabon is the time of year when the sun lessens in strength and light and when the night begins to become the ruling phase of our lives. The God is aging and preparing for his departure at Samhain and the Goddess starts her transition into the Crone phase. The second of the three harvests, the crops that have come in around this time are berries, pears, peaches, and mushrooms. The ritual will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 6pm in the New American Tradition. SLPS president Muad’Dib will lead the ritual. The center piece is a commissioned painting acrylic on canvas by the favored artist Kurt Shoopman of Kentucky featuring several skyclad gods dancing around the Mabon fire. Feasting afterward as usual. If you’d like to attend the next sabbat, please come to Witches’ Tea for more info.

Thanks to everyone who came and gave honor and thanks to the Goddess Ostara~! UUPS Met on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to honor the Goddess and welcome the Spring. We feel her blessing upon us and are grateful for her guidance. The ritual included poetry,  a guided journeying to meet Ostara, egg divination and thanks giving for all we have received. The journey work was performed by President Muad’Dib who led the members to a grove in trance to see the Germanic Goddess. Tears of joy were cried and messages received. The divination provided a good annual insight to the next year’s of work that people need to focus on.

The feasting had grilled chicken, potato salad, and wine.

Thanks to all who came and participated in the first Yule celebration and feast by UUPS on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

The Yule altar was decorated with lots of tea light candles, votive candles, quarter candles, wreathes, spruce, holly and other seasonal plants. The God and Goddess statue with them in union (below second) was hauled out for use for this holiday as Yule is about the birthing of the God from the Goddess, his mother, queen, consort, wife and lover.

After generous praise and preparation, the Goddess went into labor right there in the temple and gave birth to the God. He greeted everyone with a loving arms carrying a message for each person to hear. Gifts, hails, praise and gratitude were given to the God this night as all kneeled in acknowledgement of his divine grace and power.

Toasting and praise to other deities ensued before closing. The roars, laughter and praise broke out especially after Baccas invoked with wine! All in all, UUPS had a wonderful time. The feasting was after and everyone ate their fill of holiday delectable!

Till we meet again at the Altar of Life!

Hi folks,

So as the fall season approaches and summer comes to glorious end, the time nears to gather the altar up and travel the woods one last time before snow falls and we are locked away among hearth and home. UUPS will be doing a fall equinox ritual in Big Cottonwood Canyon. A simple Wiccan ritual. Its the time to celebrate the aging deities.  The goddess enters her crone phase and the god approaches death.  The harvest is finished, and now is time for reflection on ones life and the meaning of death. Please bring seasonal appropriate offerings and a food dish for afterward. Berries, berry wine, nuts and apples are all appropriate for this time! It will start about 4 pm and end hopefully before 6pm. Please check the even details on Facebook as well. We’ll be meeting at the 711 on the corner of 6200 s and Big Cottonwood Canyon Rd. and drive up the mile to the site.

I hope to see you all there
BB

Muad’Dib
