The Gods are Happy! Everyone was blessed at Beltane this year, held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 6pm.
The ritual opened with the usual banishings and circle protections and elemental callings. The altar was decorated in Beltane colors and Celtic Knotwork, symbolizing the eternal nature of the Gods and everyonekinds connection to them. A special commissioned painting by Kurt Shoopman of Kentucky of Ganesh and Pan in the great rite was the centerpiece, symbolizing the Queer nature of divinity and everyonekind.
With drumming and music, the wedding party entered the circle. The God was played by Lunar Oak Spirit and the Goddess was played by Woman Between the Wolves. The declarations of unity, blessings and love was followed by the great rite, with the blade entering the chalice, symbolizing the unity of the Goddess and God to each other as well as to everyonekind.
With the throwing of rice and the reading of Beltane poetry, president Muad’Dib performed a druid rite to Niwalen. The dancing of the sacred dance around the newly made May Day Pole was next. After some confusion, the pace picked up and the weaving of a tight knotwork took place, to ensure the blessings and desires of everyone who dance till next Beltane.
The feastings included wine, spirits, ribs, steak, greens beans and mushrooms, scalloped potatoes, yellow rice and curry chicken, and three bean salad. Check out the photos below!
