SLPS had a great time helping out again this year at the Church of the Sacred Circle Fall psychic fair on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Twice a year a fair is held in which the COSC raises money for expenses. President Daniel Cureton participated in reading his Deviant Moon Tarot for five people.

The 14th annual LGBT Gay-la and Silent Auction was held on October 2, 2014 at 6pm at the Wagner Jewish Community Center at the University of Utah. SLPS donated a $75 Tarot gift certificate as part of the auction which sold for $10. We here at SLPS are glad to help the Silent Auction as the money raised from both events goes to the scholarship and emergency fund. Each year several students receive approximately $2,000 each in scholarships from the LGBT Resource Center. The reserve one time emergency fund is avaliabe to students in exceptional financial need and difficulty and is approximate $500 each. SLPS looks forward to donating again at the 2015 Gay-la and Silent Auction.

The Wheel turned and Mabon came upon us. The members of SLPS gathered to celebrate the Fall Equinox on Saturday, September 20, 2014, known as Mabon and Alban Eiler, to honor the Gods, Goddess, and the coming Dark Times, when we all turn inward and study the self, inside mysteries and take time alone as the God dies.
The altar was beautifully decorated with the fruits of the season: peaches, plums, apples and flowers. A seasonal table cloth my by Trustee April Love and a Fall Queer God painting by Kurt Shoopman of Kentucky adorned the table. Lanterns hung in the trees gave an extra witchy and magical feel to the temple area. The new brooms gave the perfect backdrop to the altar.
The Goddess present was Bast, Cat God of Egypt, one who walks between worlds, and Cernunnos, Celtic Lord of Light and Dark. The ritual included a lighting of the lamp, signaling the light within during the dark, and a Ganesh birthday celebration. Shortbread cookies with jam were offered Ganesh and the song “Ganesh (Sound the Horn)” by MC Yogi was played in his honor.

Everyone enjoyed a sunny morning on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 9:30 at the City Creek Center. Surprises all around that the event was held there (City Creek being invested by the LDS Church) quickly changed into excitement as the Cheer Salt Lake team pumped everyone up for the 2.5k walk around down town SLC. A few furry friends were even in attendance.
The walk started off at the Food Court and ended at the Harmons on 100 S and State. The fundraising for Utah AIDS programming was the critical component for the walk, to raise awareness about the need for funds and to reach the $60,000 goal set by the Utah AIDS Foundation. Teams from various organizations and companies such as Ebay and American Express, as well as the Royal Court of Utah and SLPS walked along side individuals, couples, and children.
