SLPS members met under the blessed new moon Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 8pm to perform rites to the Goddess. The altar was set up, the elements displayed, and the rite conducted by President Cureton. Blessings were performed on the newly rolled smudge sticks done by the society for Mabon crafting. Offerings included Jo Jo’s and coffee.  Late night dancing Club Jam to celebrate the visit of an old Society friend in from London took place in the late hours of the night.

SLPS meeting under sacred pine on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 9pm to celebrate the Fall Equinox. The crickets were in unison, the breeze calm as the altar was dedicated and the candles lit. Ganesh and Bast joined the circle of the ancestors and took in the offerings of pears, watermelon, juice and cookies. Mabon being the second harvest, the fruits were pulled from the Society Garden.

The ritual included music by Lisa Thiel, “Mabon” off the album Circle of the Seasons. Spoken word and poetry were performed in honor of the seaons. Bast and Ganesh came down and spoke to the attendees and accepted the food. He will open the way for individuals to succeed in their inner workings. Each person chose a habit to banish in the Mabon fire.

The feast afterwards with the Gods was beef and barely stew with oreo bards for dessert. A bowl was left out for the Gods to enjoy.

Sometimes the good ole church fair is in full swing and you gotta check out the goods. SLPS attended the Annual Carmelite fair, put on by the nuns of the Carmelite Monastery in Holladay, UT on Sunday, September 20, 2015.

The fair was full of goods, food, music, and beer. The monastery and grounds are set back and hidden off of Holladay Blvd. Parking was slim, but a brisk walk along the Blvd provided a good pep for the SLPS members. The grounds were serene and beautiful, with gardens and a large statue of Our Blessed Mother Virgin Mary.

The festival had about 4,000 attendees eating, shopping, and listening to the live music. The entry was free, but “Carmelite Cash” was required to purchase items (converted at a cash booth). SLPS browsed the religious good and textiles and picked up a wall plaque of the Holy Mother Virgin Mary, a Swarovski crystal rosary, and a print of Our Lady Saint Guadalupe, adding to the eclectic temple space.

Witches, wizards, druids, vikings, and Pagans gathered to celebrate community and unity. Salt Lake City Pagan Pride Day was held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 10-6. Held at Murray Park, the festival allows the Pagan community to educated, show their pride, and “come out of the broom closet” if they feel so. This Year’s theme was “A Harvest of Balance and Blessings”.

This year’s festival included over 20 vendors, a kid zone, Belly Dancing by Thia, and music. The opening ritual was performed by the staff of Salt Lake City Pagan Pride Day. The day was sunny, shiny, and hundreds of people strolled in to shop, look, and attend public ritual. Even the local LDS missionaries stopped by for a look around.

SLPS did very well, needing a double booth this year for their $5 tarot readings. They were discounted last minute as an extra bonus for customers and to beat out competition. The closing ritual was performed in the Norse tradition by Harts Hearth Clan of Tooele Utah.

SLPS had a wonderful time reading tarot at the U of U Fall Plazafest Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Always a fun time, the students flock to the table for free readings and advice, wanting to know how their semesters are going to go. Daniel Cureton and April Love had a table next to the Chinese Christian Church and another Christian group who were recruiting. It rained slightly, but the clouds passed and the rain didn’t bother anyone. Serving the students is a fantastic way to perform community outreach and service, helping them set their lives in order so they can perform their best with their studies.
