SLPS enjoyed reading tarot and a few palms at the 14th Annual Belly Dance Spring Fest this past Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Utah State Fairground Promontory building. Each year Thia puts on the Fest and encourages dance, cultural, and festivities for the belly dance community in Salt Lake City. Readings went first for $10, then for $5 as traffic was slow. The pace picked up after lunch as more folks came out for the Saturday afternoon and evening shows.2015-03-07 11.51.50 2015-03-07 15.00.05

SLPS had a wonderful time reading tarot and palms at the U of U Crimson Nights, themed out for Mardi Gras on Friday, February 21, 2015. Going from 9pm to midnight, SLPS read the tarot next to Kim’s Cold-Blooded Creatures… which included spiders and snakes! President Daniel Cureton even carried a fire legged tarantula on his arm! The lines where out the door as usual, a big success for SLPS, who enjoys doing the events for students.

SLPS had a great Plazafest at the University of Utah Student Union! President Daniel Cureton read tarot for free with his Deviant Moon Tarot deck for about 20 people on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the U’s Spring Plazafest, which is the U’s version of “club rush” for the first week of each semester. Most people who get their cards read are first timers, or had only had them done once or so in the past. The free tarot is a great way to connect with new people and to help others spiritually by showing them a snapshot of their lives at that moment.

The 14th annual LGBT Gay-la and Silent Auction was held on October 2, 2014 at  6pm at the Wagner Jewish Community Center at the University of Utah. SLPS donated a $75 Tarot gift certificate as part of the auction which sold for $10. We here at SLPS are glad to help the Silent Auction as the money raised from both events goes to the scholarship and emergency fund. Each year several students receive approximately $2,000 each in scholarships from the LGBT Resource Center. The reserve one time emergency fund is avaliabe to students in exceptional financial need and difficulty and is approximate $500 each. SLPS looks forward to donating again at the 2015 Gay-la and Silent Auction.

SLPS read the Tarot for Crimson Nights at the University of Utah on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 9pm-Midnight. Crimson Nights, put on by the Union Programming Council (UPC) really enjoyed the SLPS tarot the last time and invited us again to read. Students lined up immediately and the line stayed full the entire night, with several students stating they waited 45 minutes to an hour for a reading (and that’s with three readers!). People continued to line up, even after the sign was taken down. SLPS hopes to do it again at the next Crimson Nights!

SLPS had a wonderful time doing $5 tarot at the 13th Annual Belly Dance Festival by Thia at the Utah State Fairground on Saturday, March 1, 2014, in North Salt Lake. The festival ran from 10am to 10pm. It included various vendors, belly dance troupes, music, and shows. As the day went on, the more well know and advanced troupes performed, leading up to the grand performance at 10pm. SLPS though, after nine hours of tarot and forty readings, dancing, and music, packed up and headed to dinner at the Rio Grand at 8pm for the cilantro chicken!
