The 14th Annual Utah Pride Interfaith Coalition’s Interfaith service kicked off the 2015 Utah Pride Festival. Held at First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City, but hosted by the Community of Christ, it took place Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 7pm. This was the first year that service was not hosted at the host’s facilities. Part of this reason was due to the small space at the Community of Christ, not able to accommodate 300 or more people.

With the singing of the Buddhist singing bowl, the service opened and the faith leaders processed in.  Russel Baker-Gorringe informed everyone that he would be retiring from the leadership as head of the coalition. An enthusiastic speech by Troy Williams, executive director of Equality Utah got everyone excited about the recent changes to the state with the recent passage of the anti discrimination bill. Some great music was sun in praise of the divine, a ritual for the honored dead of the LGBT community was performed, and $1200 raised for QSAs (Queer Student Unions) around the state of Utah thanks to a heartfelt and passionate awareness raising talk by Miguel Gallegos who works with local QSA groups in schools. Light refreshments were provided afterwards and guest and faith leaders mingled.

SLPS had a great time helping Church of the Sacred Circle at their 2015 Spring psychic fair “Rite of Spring” on Saturday, May 8, 2015 from 4-8 pm. Even though it was a rainy and overcast day, the fair was busy with patrons coming for tarot, angel, astrological, and palm readings. Some came for healing, others to find their destiny, with question about school, work, and love. President Daniel Cureton had a great time reading palms and using his Deviant Moon Tarot.

The Goddess and God united in love and became one for the day! The Great Day of Beltane, when the God and Goddess come together for their wedding ceremony and to make new life that will be born at Yule. The ceremony was held outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2015 at 3pm. The altar was decorated with Celtic knot work items and plaques of the Goddess and God and of the God and God for Queer mysteries. A lesson on the meaning and origin of Beltane took place, and the offerings were white wine and strawberry short cake. The feastings later in the evening were Italian sausage spaghetti, green salad, and garlic bread with red wine.

Eostre was pleased! SLPS honored and celebrated Ostara on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 8pm. This Spring Equinox was special because of a solar eclipse, super moon and the equinox trifecta, all on one day. Lots of juice to pull down for the ritual! The altar was set, offerings of boiled eggs and wine. A sprig of plum, flowered with beautiful pinks delicates, and yellow daffodils adorned the Goddess. Sacred music was played in her honor and the Lord Herne. A simple yet powerful right, keeping the traditions alive.

The members of SLPS gathered together to honor the full moon and mother goddess on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Each person comes seeking blessings and to be recharged by the power of the full moon. Small workings take place after grounding and cleansing each person. This full moon is named Sap moon since the sap in trees starts to come up and flow again. Offerings included pomegranate wine and lasagna (The Gods like to eat regular food too!).
