Rock the U Marathon a Fun Time

On March 23, 2013, SLPS read tarot for free for the students at the Rock the U Marathon for Cancer Awareness. Daniel Cureton, April Love, and Lauren Holman brought their tarot decks for a few hours, and over the load music in the Union Ballroom at the Student Union Building at the University of Utah, read the card for about 30 people. SLPS enjoys this type of service, as it’s free for the students, gives everyone practice, and allows them to make more connections with people without considering money. Check out the pics below!

February 2013 Full Moon Ritual-Gratitude Ceremony to Aphrodite

Thanks to all the members and guests that came this past Saturday, February 23 2013 at 8pm for the Full Moon Ritual to Aphrodite. Those faithful and dedicated members trekked snow drifts, high winds and low visibility to give thanks to the Goddess of Love for all her blessings, especially in the month of February for Valentine’s Day. After clearing the space, shielding and proclaiming peace in the quarters, the elements, deities and ancestors were invoked to help work the magic of the night.

A special appearance by the Goddess was seen in the kitchen. The appearance was captured on camera by president Daniel Cureton and the goddess can be seen with Sergey Khrushechev as he pours his personal libation (left). Her reflection from the kitchen is seen in the mirror as she appears to be in saint form!

After the workings, the members enjoyed Jack Wagon Wheat Beer by Shades of Pale Brewing Co. out of Park City. Several hails, offerings and libations later, the gratitude ceremony came to a close with the traditional feasting on maple vanilla bean cookies and grape juice from Trader Joes.

Tarot readings commenced after the ritual, keeping the tradition alive to divine the future on the full moon. See you all next moon!

U of U Plazafest Tabling II Spring 2013

The first week of the new semester brought a wonderful opportunity for SLPS to set up and break out the tarot deck for the students. Each spring the Union at the University of Utah holds spring Plazafest (this was Plazafest II) for the students, staff and faculty to check out the latest student groups and organizations. Today January 9, 2013, the union ballroom on the second floor was filled with groups, students, popcorn and others making their way around. President Daniel Cureton sat in the first two hours offering free tarot readings to six people using the Deviant Moon tarot deck. At noon brought Kandrie Mylroie with her runes and to finish up at 1pm was SLPS adviser April Love who brought her special Robin Wood Tarot. Not a bad day all in all. Psychic Faire-Grove of Galadriel

Psychic, tarot, and mediums all around! That’s what the crowd was like at the Church of the Sacred Cirlce’s Psychic fair that took place this past Saturday, October 13, 2012 on site at their Temple in West Valley. The yurt was set up with small tables and chairs allowing for a total of five readers and mediums. At about 3:30, the crowds started flocking in for tarot themes ranging from fairy to samhain!

Mid evening brought relief as the crowds slowed and allowed for some stretch time by the psychics. Vending supplies was provided by Jared and Libby of the Celtic Bazaar, a local traveling pagan shop. Welcome Week Tabling 2012

These past weeks were awesome! Many students stopped by UUPS table at Welcome Week on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 10am-2pm on the U of U Student Union West Lawn for free tarot readings. Ganesh watched over the table as president Daniel Cureton and UUPS adviser April Love gave free readings to almost fifty people in the four hours available to students to table at the student union. There were even a few people interested in joining the Pagan Society! All in all, things went well and we got the word out that there is a safe and inclusive space for all persons to come and explore alternative spirituality!

Fall 2012 Student Move in Tarot Readings

President Daniel Cureton provided free tarot readings for the students moving into the dorms at the University of Utah Heritage Halls on Thursday, August 16, 2012 . Several groups lined the main entrance and were there to recruit students, including LDSSA and Frisbee golf. President Cureton did a few readings while he received some side glances and evil eyes from parents of freshman.

2012 LGBTQ PRIDE Festival

Thanks to all who attend and helped at the booth at this year’s Utah Pride Festival. We had an eventful weekend which included the interfaith service, interfaith march, Sunday’s parade and free tarot readings at the booth! We had so many people wanting readings that we had to turn folks away when the gates closed. Wait time was over an hour! But we feel grateful being able to help and bring solace, validation and guidance to those seeking answers. Those of us that marched in the parade could feel the wealth of gratitude washing over us as we were cheered on and thanked for being the only Pagan representation at the parade and festival! We even had pagans from Logan join us in the middle of the march! All in all it was a success and UUPS can’t wait for next year! Check out the photos below!
