SLPS was asked to read the tarot at the U’s Crimson Nights Friday, April 11, 2014 which was circus themed. SLPS was put in with the reptiles and read for free for over three hours to many different students. Although the Daily Utah Chronicle reported on Monday, April 14, 2014 that Crimson Nights was losing steaming, the tarot readings were still popular.

Ostara shining face was seen this past Ostara 2014. SLPS held Ostara 2014 on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 6pm. The ritual was done in the New American Tradition by SLPS president Daniel Cureton.

With the opening of the ceremony by the LBRP and other rites, the ritual quickly moved to the story of Ostara or Easter. Centering around the Goddess Eostre and her blessing of the bunnies to spread her name, a guided journey to meet the Goddess was performed. Afterward, wildflower seeds were spread in a barren patch of land, to bring new life as spring rolls forward. President Cureton performed a druid rite of spring to Coel. The cakes and ales included bunny bread rolls made by Rhiannon Watters that were offered up to the Goddess in thanks for the return of Spring, with the song “The Earth is Our Mother” by Libana being chanted in remembrance of our ties and duty to care for the land. The ritual ended peacefully with spring poetry.

The feastings included vegan lentil soup, potato rolls, grilled chicken, spinach and cucumber salad, and enchiladas. With the wine and juice flowing freely, the feastings continued into the night and ended with a few hands of five card poker!

The wheel has turned and Samhain, known to non magical folks as Halloween is upon us. The Celtic new year is a time for renewing commitments, setting goals and honoring the dead.

This year’s Samhain is a special one since UUPS picked up the Sun Stave Staff and will be hosting Sun Stave for Samhain. Part of this year’s Samhain will consist of drinking to the new year, a druid rite, wiccan death ceremony of Cernunnos, and calling in the dead or ancestors to deliver messages from the other realm, help their living loved ones improve and move forward in their lives.

Please bring an item or photo of a loved one that has passed. There will be a separate ancestral table to set them on. This ritual will included heavy emotions, be prepared to see those beyond the grave. Feast will be after as usual. Dress warmly and if able, please bring a seasonally appropriate dish.

Address: 7455 Parkridge Cir, SLC UT 84121
**** Here are some helpful tips for food ****

If you can, please think beyond bringing chips and salsa for your food contribution. 🙂 We have paper plates, plastic forks and spoons and plastic cups and two microwaves for re-heating items. If you are allergic to cats, be aware that the house is owned…errrr shared by 11 of those feline beasties: plan accordingly with your meds.

Ideas and suggestions for seasonal foods include: steamed carrots, pumpkin pie, garlic mashed potatoes, chicken (rotisserie or otherwise), soups (for example winter squash soup) macaroni & cheese, rice pilaf, enchiladas, other casseroles. Remember our vegetarian sisters & brothers, but think beyond the “vegetable platter.”

UUPS has the wonderful opportunity again to visit and participate with our fellow Pagans at Utah State University. The ritual is set for a nearby canyon in Logan on Saturday, August 6, 2011. We need all of you to post your comments so we can get organized and know who’s going, who can carpool, who would like to volunteer their car for use. UUPS can offer a small reimbursement for gas if necessary. We also ask everyone to chip in on the gas cost because simply… the prices are out of this world (as everyone knows).

What: Lughnasadh/ Lammas Ritual

Where: Logan UT with Utah State University Pagan Alliance

Hi folks,

Soon under the wing of the Goddess, Hecate’s time will come, Samhain, or Halloween.  As part of the end of October, we will be doing Pagan Awareness Week the last week.  There will be an altar set up at the University of Utah.  Awareness and understanding,  especially at such a commercial time, while peoples guards on witches and pagans has been let down for all the candy they’ll get on this night, is the best time to make the true meaning of this sacred holiday known.  Here is the link to the facebook group so you all can see the events that are upcoming

As part of that week, don’t be afraid to show you’re a god and/or goddess worshiper!  We want to educate the community on the real meaning of paganism, so be proud to sport your alternative clothing or jewelry, even if its for an hour!  This is part of the goal of Pagan Awareness Week, to get the local pagan’s out of fear and out of the broom closet! I hope to see you all there!

We love traveling, especially when its to Logan to see our Pagan brothers and sisters at Utah State University.  The Pagan Alliance at USU is a bright and active group we call our sister group. UUPS has been building inter-group mingling with USUPA since April 2010.  UUPS drove up, after getting lost, on Saturday, May 1, 2010 to Logan UT. Most of UUPS members found the location in Logan Canyon and were able to attend a wonderful Celtic Reconstruction Wedding festival put on by USUPA’s own president Kassie Cressall.  A large circle of stones, a beautiful altar, music, singing, fires and more were all on the agenda this day.  After wards was a lovely feast and a large May Day Pole!  All of us were able to dance around the poll honoring the God and Goddess on their day of union.
