Well with everything settled down again, it’s time for reports! We had a successful venture at the LGBTQ Pride Festival a few weekends ago  Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5, 2011. Many folks stopped by our table and signed up for the newsletter and updates. A few people paid dues and became members, took information and all together enjoyed our presence. All of the newsletters we took (About 50) we’re gone on Saturday. A few folks even felt generous enough to put a few dollars in our donations can. All in all, it was a success! So now it’s back to the old routine of full moons and holidays, but not to worry, many events and activities are coming up this summer!

This past April 30 UUPS had a great opportunity to table at the 2011 Earth Jam Festival held in Salt Lake City’s Liberty Park.

Earth Jam is a non-profit organization that raises awareness of environmental issues with a free festival and free concerts.

The weather was not favorable on this morning, with upwards of eight inches of snow in the valley. The sun did come out later to shine its face and warm up the participants and vendors.

“The weather was awful, cold, snowy and some wind. Despite that, we did have about fifteen people sign up to receive our newsletter and many people stopped by for information and pamphlets” said President Daniel Cureton.

Preisdent Cureton even secured a five minute speaking spot between stage changes of the bands to talk about the group. He commented, “I spoke for a few minutes, but no one was really listening. The problem really was that no one was there because of the weather!  A few lolly gaggers, but they all left once I got to the mic.”

Sorry President Cureton! Hopefully next years Earth Jam will have Gaia treating the crowds with a more tender fist!

President Daniel Cureton and member Sarah Cochran relaxed in the shade as students rushed by to class in the noon sun.

President Daniel Cureton got the first booth for UUPS at the U of U Welcome Week August 26, 2010. Set up on the Student Union west lawn and thankfully in the shade, the sun rose in the August sky and students passed by. Plenty of Pagan literature was on the table for those interested in Paganism. The new club is up and going and is recruiting well.

Hi Everyone,

As SLPPD nears us, its time to get the word out that UUPS will be tabling with their sister group Utah State University Pagan Alliance.  Please come check us out and enjoy the company of the other local pagan college students.  Look for our banner.  We will be tabling the whole day, so stop by and say hello, and get a brochure or two!
