U of U Plazafest Tabling II Spring 2013

The first week of the new semester brought a wonderful opportunity for SLPS to set up and break out the tarot deck for the students. Each spring the Union at the University of  Utah holds spring Plazafest (this was Plazafest II) for the students, staff and faculty to check out the latest student groups and organizations. Today January 9, 2013, the union ballroom on the second floor was filled with groups, students, popcorn and others making their way around. President Daniel Cureton sat in the first two hours offering free tarot readings to six people using the Deviant Moon tarot deck. At noon brought Kandrie Mylroie with her runes and to finish up at 1pm was SLPS adviser April Love who brought her special Robin Wood Tarot. Not a bad day all in all. Even a few stopped to take brochures for the group! Check out the photos below

Website Working Again

After several changes, the website is working again. Book of the Month has been moved to the top of the website and the Neo Pagan Times tab with its tabs for each year’s publications has been placed under the documents tab in about. The directory also had to go. Hopefully this will help us to have a basic working site for now as we try to build it back up.

Witches’ Tea January 6, 2013.. 2013 Off to a Great Start!

The First Witches’ Tea of 2013 was a hit! Eight SLPS members and guesses showed up for tea, talk and the tarot! Everything went well until the Beehive Tea Room’s credit card machine went down… then it was running to the ATM at Zion’s Bank for cash! Thankfully Rena Fairbrother covered everyone on hand who never carry the good greens. With the start of the semester tomorrow, SLPS hopes that as the months role by, tea will continue to grow and have more folks showing up to attend one of the best places in the valley!

Yule Feast and Ritual 2012

Mark it on your calendars! Yule 2012 is Here! This Yule will be a little unorthodox since the end of the Maya calendar is taking place. Yule Feast and Ritual is taking place on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 7pm. We will be eating first around 6pm, then having the ritual around 8pm. Please bring a seasonal dish and be prepared to stay awake till 12am!..

UUPS to Change to name to SLPS- Salt Lake Pagan Society

The vote is in. After several weeks of debating the name change, a majority rule has settled on changing the U of U Pagan Society’s name to the Salt Lake Pagan Society. It will take some time for the transition, so please hold tight while we get everything switched over!

U of U Pagan Society to Change Name

The U of U Pagan Society will soon be changing its name. Forced to do so under a new trademark agreement, the University of Utah trademarked the words “U of U”. Along with it are a few other items to the list of trademarks. Part of the official email from the U stated “The name and symbols of your organization must not include the use of registered University trademarks including: THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH; UTAH; RUNNIN’ UTES; UTES; official block letter “U”; UU; U of U; Lady Utes; ASUU; Swoop; Block U with medical caduceus; Circle and feather; The Muss; The School Seal; The School Medallion.”

Thanks to the U, UUPS will have to change all official documents and logos as well as its website and email. Please join in the effort to pick a new name. Submit comments below or email your ideas to uofupagansociety@gmail.com

Psychic Faire-Grove of Galadriel

Psychic, tarot, and mediums all around! That’s what the crowd was like at the Church of the Sacred Cirlce’s Psychic fair that took place this past Saturday, October 13, 2012 on site at their Temple in West Valley.  The yurt was set up with small tables and chairs  allowing for a total of five readers and mediums. At about 3:30, the crowds started flocking in for tarot themes ranging from fairy to samhain!

Mid evening brought relief as the crowds slowed and allowed for some stretch time by the psychics. Vending supplies was provided by Jared and Libby of the Celtic Bazaar, a local traveling pagan shop. Most people can’t wait till next years Psychic fair! Check out the pics below of the CSC altars, yurt and event!
