Thanks to all who came and participated in Ostara 2013 on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 6pm. The Ritual started around 8:30 pm due to printer issues and no outlines of the ritual being available till then. Plenty of socializing and pre-ritual fun took place before President Muad’Dib rung the great society bell to call to order the ritual.

With the usual openings and calling of the quarters, the Ostara celebrations began. With the altar decorated in spring fashion with egg that had been dyed before hand by president Muad’Dib and SLPS member Rena Fairbrother, ribbon and a special custom Ostara plaque, the entering the circle happened after the cleansing of the temple space. The ritual took place in doors this year because of the weather temperatures being in the 30s. As the people entered the space, they were cleansed and consecrated to work magic and give honoring to the Great Goddess.

The story of Ostara was told and the members and guests of SLPS were taken to meet the Goddess in her woodland dwelling where she was playing  a beautiful lap harp. She gave each person advice and sent them along their way. Next poetry, music, dance, flowers, eggs, stones and food were offered to the Goddess as gifts of gratitude and love for the returning of light and springtime. Music was provided by president Muad’Dib on violin. Everyone in turn received a  wildflower bulb to plant to help seed the barren Earth back to life. Each person also received a small half inch Venus of Willendorf statue as a Goddess charm. Special organic gluten free apple cinnamon muffins were made by SLPS’s newest member Cheyanne Opheikins. The muffins quickly disappeared and the members of SLPS have given her the task of making more for Beltane!

Personal libations to the Goddess came after a small break. President Muad’Dib performed a druid spring rite and then the ritual came to a close. The feasting included dishes such as roasted eggs, potato salad and spare ribs! Check out the photos below.

Thanks to everyone who came and gave honor and thanks to the Goddess Ostara~! UUPS Met on Saturday, March 24, 2012 to honor the Goddess and welcome the Spring. We feel her blessing upon us and are grateful for her guidance. The ritual included poetry,  a guided journeying to meet Ostara, egg divination and thanks giving for all we have received. The journey work was performed by President Muad’Dib who led the members to a grove in trance to see the Germanic Goddess. Tears of joy were cried and messages received. The divination provided a good annual insight to the next year’s of work that people need to focus on.

The feasting had grilled chicken, potato salad, and wine.

This past month brought us the wonderful opportunity again to see our wonderful brothers and sisters from Utah State University Pagan Alliance in Logan, Ut on Saturday, March 19, 2011. They celebrate and honored Liber Pater with the Roman Spring Holiday Liberalia. Masks were hung in trees, wreaths were worn on the heads and togas worn! Callista Midnyte Dreamwalker (fourth from right) related her experience, “Liberlia was a very powerful experience. It was my first ritual I ever  attended and I was nervous. However when we arrived we were invited into the circle among many fellow pagans. We called upon the God and Goddess not just of the Romans but also of others. I enjoyed the company and felt the Gods and Goddesses presence.  I felt their joy in our gathering. This three hour drive was completely worth it!” Saerra Fairbrother said “ I am so glad I went. It was a great time and I even met a woman who will be moving to go to SLCC with us in the fall.”

UUPS is very excited and cannot wait to see and join in the next celebration with USUPA! We are grateful to our wonderful friend and President of USUPA Kassie (second from right).

This month we are focusing on getting sponsored by one of the local businesses and setting up for the PRIDE Festival.  We also have added a new event page to the website so everyone can keep up to date on what is going on with UUPS!

Brigid herself was pleased with the joyous celebration of the day of the return of the light. She was aspected by our very own adviser April, in a wonderful black and white costume, signifying the duality of the solstice and equality of day and night before the day becomes longer. The four quarters were called upon with candles and wreathes upon the heads of those who were in their elements respectively. A roaring fire in the grill helped keep us warm on the chilly night, and light Brigid’s candle. Milk and oats were passed, and blessings given, and blessings received. Thanks to all who came and enjoyed and made Imbolc 2011 a reality.

Following Imbolc we had home made chicken soup and participated in a new moon ritual. We hailed Luna and meditated with the beating of drums and set goals for the coming month. Blessings of the moon were given by the Priest before everyone was led into past life visions by April. Many things were revealed. All very instructional and helpful to the people to better understanding their time in this existence.

All in all, we can’t wait to do it again! Come join us each month for new and full moon rituals and draw down the power of the moon into your lives. See you there!

UUPS got its first booth for U of U Welcome Week August 26, 2010. Set up on the Student Union west lawn and thankfully in the shade, the sun rose in the August sky and students passed by. Plenty of Pagan literature was on the table for those interested in Paganism. The new club is up and going and is recruiting well.
