The Wheel has turned and Yule is upon us! Also know as Alban Arthan or the Winter Solstice, the sun reaches its lowest depths before starting its ascent. SLPS will be doing a Wiccan Yule on Saturday, December 20, 2014. The ritual will also included lighting of the fifth night Hanukkah candles. The Yule king will be born, the Oak King come to rule till Midsummer. A Yule log cake will be prepared, and egg nog with brandy for the drink. The feast will include stuff chicken, potato soup, fufu, and green beans.

The members of SLPS gathered to honor the Moon Goddess for the last full moon of the year, the December full moon known as the cold moon. This is the cold moon since its occurs around the longest and coldest nights of the year. Offerings to the goddess included red wine, in semblance of the blood of the members, and chocolate cookies, in semblance of their bodies, walking the path of the Goddess. Each month brings the opportunity to evaluate the goals set at the new moon, and work powerful magical rights and be recharged by the moon’s energy.

The Dark moon arrived upon us! SLPS members met under the dark moon to celebrate the Dark Goddess, set goals, and renew vows to continually walk the Goddess Path. The ritual was held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 8pm, under the dark sky with snow on the ground. a drum circle a meditation fire happened after the magical workings, and with each beat of the drum and flick of the smokeless fire, the members present were sent on a meditative journey. Some conversed with ancestors, some talked with deities and some transcended the Earthly plane.

Each month brings the opportunity to work powerful magic by the full moon. The Goddess is in full power, in this bright aspect, and November brings the “Beaver Moon”, which is a time the beavers go prepare for the winter. This month SLPS members met on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 8pm to work the moon magic and give honor and gratitude to the Goddess for her continual blessings.

The Wheel has turned and Mabon is upon us. The fall Equinox, Alban Eiler hit’s this Tuesday, September 23, 2014. SLPS will be celebrating the return of the dark times Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 6pm. Only members are allowed to participate in this sacred rite. A few members of SLPS gathered to honor the sturgeon full moon on Saturday, August 10, 2014. This is the moon and time when sturgeon are easiest to catch. Workings included petitions to the Goddess for blessings and to Kali. Curry egg salad sandwiches were accepted as the cakes and apple juice as the ale.

A few of the core members gathered to honor Lugh on Saturday, August 2, 2014. This year’s Lughnasadh was small in comparison, due to schedules and other circumstances, regardless, Lugh was satisfied and happy to be honored and remembered with penis break and sausage gravy as the main offerings.

Lughnasadh is the traditional time for offering the first bread of the harvest, in which this year’s form they were penis bread. The foundations of the Sun and Moon temple were restored and the Angels welcomed back. A simple druid ceremony brought all the parts together before the close. The feast included grilled bratwursts in honor of Lugh, spinach salad and funeral potatoes.

A small gathering of SLPS members gathered on Friday, June 13th, 2014 to take pull down and work the unique and auspicious Strawberry full moon that will not take place for another 35 years. Spells, honoring the moon goddess, setting goals for the next 35 year all took place. With special Indian condensed milk treats and cranapple juice, the Goddess was pleased. Midsummer God’s eyes adorned the altar for the upcoming Midsummer ritual on June 21, 2014. A fire was lit and cigars smoked to please the spirits after the ritual.

A few members of SLPS gathered on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 8pm to give thanks to the New Moon Goddess for her blessings and support this path may. “We worked magic, set goals, and had a great time chanting the songs of our Mother” said Daniel Cureton. Treats included a PB&J sandwich, almonds, and lemonade for the cakes and ale.

A few select members of SLPS meet under the auspicious second dark moon of March, known as a black moon on Saturday, March 29, 2014. The members worked dark moon magic together, set goals, and went on a vision quest by the beating of the drum by President Cureton who guided the quest. With each beat of the drum, whip of the flame and shake of the rain stick, the travels to the astral realm were accomplished. Offerings included orange and chocolate brownies and juice.
