Thanks to all whom came to the Beltane celebrations on May 4, 2013 at 6pm. The God and Goddess united in love and spirit in the presence of SLPS members. The celebrations began with dancing, singing and drum beating welcome the wedding party to the circle. Sergey Khrushchev played the God and Callista Dreamwalker the Goddess.

Each member took turns reading Beltane poetry, giving offerings, and watching the Great Rite performance. The wedding party exited to the throws of rice and treats in honor of their union. After the wedding party exited, a druid Beltane rite calling on Niwalen was performed by SLPS President and druid Daniel Cureton. Niwalen rose from the Earth and blessed everyone.

Personal libations came before the close. Penis rolls and clit cakes were loving homemade by Lauren Holman. Each person enjoyed a taste of the God and Goddess! Feastings included ribs by April Love, Enchiladas by Ashton Longhurst and an organic homemade Green Man spice cake by Cheyanne Opheikens.

Thanks to all who came and participated in Ostara 2013 on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 6pm. The Ritual started around 8:30 pm due to printer issues and no outlines of the ritual being available till then. Plenty of socializing and pre-ritual fun took place before President Cureton rung the great society bell to call to order the ritual.

With the usual openings and calling of the quarters, the Ostara celebrations began. With the altar decorated in spring fashion with egg that had been dyed before hand by president Curetn and SLPS member Rena Fairbrother, ribbon and a special custom Ostara plaque, the entering the circle happened after the cleansing of the temple space. The ritual took place in doors this year because of the weather temperatures being in the 30s. As the people entered the space, they were cleansed and consecrated to work magic and give honoring to the Great Goddess.

The story of Ostara was told and the members and guests of SLPS were taken to meet the Goddess in her woodland dwelling where she was playing  a beautiful lap harp. She gave each person advice and sent them along their way. Next poetry, music, dance, flowers, eggs, stones and food were offered to the Goddess as gifts of gratitude and love for the returning of light and springtime. Music was provided by president Cureton on violin. Everyone in turn received a  wildflower bulb to plant to help seed the barren Earth back to life. Each person also received a small half inch Venus of Willendorf statue as a Goddess charm. Special organic gluten free apple cinnamon muffins were made by SLPS’s newest member Cheyanne O., The muffins quickly disappeared and the members of SLPS have given her the task of making more for Beltane!

Personal libations to the Goddess came after a small break. President Cureton performed a druid spring rite and then the ritual came to a close. The feasting included dishes such as roasted eggs, potato salad and spare ribs! Check out the photos below.

Thanks to all the members and guests that came this past Saturday, February 23 2013 at 8pm for the Full Moon Ritual to Aphrodite. Those faithful and dedicated members trekked snow drifts, high winds and low visibility to give thanks to the Goddess of Love for all her blessings, especially in the month of February for Valentine’s Day. After clearing the space, shielding and proclaiming peace in the quarters, the elements, deities and ancestors were invoked to help work the magic of the night.

A special appearance by the Goddess was seen in the kitchen. The appearance was captured on camera by president Daniel Cureton and the goddess can be seen with Sergey Khrushechev as he pours his personal libation (left). Her reflection from the kitchen is seen in the mirror as she appears to be in saint form!

After the workings, the members enjoyed Jack Wagon Wheat Beer by Shades of Pale Brewing Co. out of Park City. Several hails, offerings and libations later, the gratitude ceremony came to a close with the traditional feasting on maple vanilla bean cookies and grape juice from Trader Joes.

Tarot readings commenced after the ritual, keeping the tradition alive to divine the future on the full moon. See you all next moon!

Thanks to all who attend the Imbolc ritual and feasting on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 6pm. The ritual was lead by President Cureton in a wiccan/druid fashion. Brigid was honored with song, poetry, fire and offerings. The members and guests who attended were taken on a spiritual journey to meet the Goddess in her hut by the mountain side meadows. After a brief interruption by little girls selling kettle corn, things were back in order and the journey back on track. The Goddess helped us define and smith out of a brick an object we would all need for the journey ahead.

Afterwards, president Cureton performed a druid rite and aspected the Goddess Ana or otherwise wise known as Anu or The Morrigan, goddess of battle, strife, and sovereignty. Her blessings were received by the members during the rattling of bells and her speaking through the druid president to the members.

Everything came to a close then, blessings of Brigid and Anu were received and the members passed through cleansing flames of candle fires in honor of Brigid’s fires and hearth. The feasting included items such as vegan lentil soup, couscous, pork roast stuffed with fruit and lots of wine! Till next we meet!

Thanks to all whom came this past Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8pm. A few members gathered around to celebrate and give thanks to moon goddess at her full power. Magic and spells, love and gratitude, spirits and energy were worked this night.

The first order of business brought a few small spells for charging and making new amulets of protection. The main ritual was a gratitude ceremony to Ganesh for all he has done for us. Some of the songs played and danced to included Elephant Power, Om and Son of Shiva all by MC Yogi on his album Elephant Power. Some of the members rang bells and clapped while others shook percussion instruments for Ganesh. Ganesh himself was seen wiggling his ears and joining in the fun!

November’s full moon brought a special time for one of the members of SLPS. Amber Hafen, the beloved advertising director happened to have been born on this auspicious day!. With cake, card, candles and flower, the group gathered around her and sang and gave special birthday wishes and love. The benefit of pagan birthdays besides all the goodies, is that the candles can be washed, cleaned and stored away until they are needed for wishing magic!

With the birthday over, the ritual came to a close and the cake portioned out. April Love, SLPS adviser made a homemade white cake with chocolate frosting…delicious! Afterwards, the party continued with a viewing of Too Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything Julie Newmar!

The wheel has turned and Samhain has come and gone. Thanks to all whom attended the combined UUPS and Sunstave Samhain ritual and feast on Saturday, October 27, 2012 6pm.

The temple area was decorated with the altars and tables with their elemental associations. Flowers and gourds were placed on the main altar and a special ancestral table was placed in the west for people to set items of loved ones onto. Arianrhod watched over the table while the event took place.

Everyone entered the circle space after the circle was cast and were cleansed with sage and holy water. President Daniel Cureton opened the circle in the druid fashion and had the quarters called afterwards.

What first took place was a calming chant We Are the Old Ones, followed by the death of Cernunnos, who left us to go to the land of spirits to await rebirth at Yule. Hades then was channeled by president Cureton and spoke to the circle before interacting with gate keeper of the west. The Gate Keeper, played by Iyata Bond, offered her soul in payment for a few minutes with the spirits of the dead. Hades, being so honored by her sincerity, open the gate without taking her soul. The spirits of the dead came rushing in to meet and talk with their loved ones. Some reported seeing lovers, parents and even pets that had gone on. In the middle of all this, three hounds were heard in the distance barking madly in the silence.

To the tune of the song Queen Medusa by Whispering Woods, Medusa was seen and heard from next. She joined the circle and took everyone’s problems that they had been dealing with throughout the year and burned them in the new year’s fire. She transformed and supported and will continue to support those whom accepted her offering of help.

The circle and grove were closed and the feasting began. The feast included deviled eggs, funeral potatoes, chicken and butternut squash soup. After the feast brought the Samhain part at the Church of the Sacred Circle temple where all sat by the fire and welcomed the new year while drinking Drunken Oak mead. Check out the photos below!
