Thanks to all the members and guests that came this past Saturday, February 23 2013 at 8pm for the Full Moon Ritual to Aphrodite. Those faithful and dedicated members trekked snow drifts, high winds and low visibility to give thanks to the Goddess of Love for all her blessings, especially in the month of February for Valentine’s Day. After clearing the space, shielding and proclaiming peace in the quarters, the elements, deities and ancestors were invoked to help work the magic of the night.

A special appearance by the Goddess was seen in the kitchen. The appearance was captured on camera by president Daniel Cureton and the goddess can be seen with Sergey Khrushechev as he pours his personal libation (left). Her reflection from the kitchen is seen in the mirror as she appears to be in saint form!

After the workings, the members enjoyed Jack Wagon Wheat Beer by Shades of Pale Brewing Co. out of Park City. Several hails, offerings and libations later, the gratitude ceremony came to a close with the traditional feasting on maple vanilla bean cookies and grape juice from Trader Joes.

Tarot readings commenced after the ritual, keeping the tradition alive to divine the future on the full moon. See you all next moon!

What a full moon it was! Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 8pm was a very special night. Two guest, Mitchell and Kellan showed up in need of intensive cleansing and magical working. The members of SLPS present were all very capable and able to deal with this type of energy work. Lots of astral travelers, negative spots and more had to be pulled off. Three different types of magic we used, reiki, slavic and shamanic. Afterwards  it was done! This intensive work doesn’t come up that often, but when it doesn’t  it is an example that you must be ready at all times to deal with whatever walks through the door!

Because of all this negative energy, rituals from now on will be invitation only.

Thanks to all who came on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 8pm to the new moon ritual! We had a great time doing new moon magic, discussing upcoming activities and working with the ancestors. President Daniel Cureton sported his new oak circlet made from brass. The mediation fire with the song Shanti from the album Elephant Power by MC Yogi has really made a difference in the ability for the members to center and release all negativity. The moon goddess accepted the offerings for the new month and blessed everyone to go forward with light and love!

Thanks to all whom came on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 8pm to the full moon ritual. This was the last moon of 2012 and right in the middle of Kwanzaa. The members of SLPS discussed ujamaa or community economics based in the Kwanzaan tradition. After lighting the Kinara everyone partook of the Kikombe Cha Umoja or the communal cup made from coconut~! A few spells were worked and offerings given to the moon goddess before closing. SLPS looks forward to the first moons of 2013!

What a wonderful Yule celebration! The members of SLPS met on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 7pm to feast with the Gods and Goddesses and prepare for the new year. A little unorthodox, the feast came first to prepare everyone for the long hours of ritual ahead. Mole enchiladas, vegan lentil soup, vegetarian lasagna and chicken were just a few things on the menu.

The altar was decorated with deity statues, red and white candles, altar stand with Gaia atop, pictures, stones, offering bowl and more. The She-Hawk’s Nest was built in front of the altar in the shape of an egg using pine boughs  Each person took a turn curling up in the next, releasing personal problems, goals, desires and announcing the birth of new ones to take the place of the old, much like the birthing of the new Yule King. When they emerged they were given salt to taste the bitterness of death.

After the nesting, everyone lined up to be pulled through the birthing canal. Each took a turn being pulled between all sixteen people. At the end, Iyata Bond was waiting with a drop of honey so that all could taste the sweetness of the birth.

A short break with root beer floats was for a light snack and right at 12am and at the end of the Maya calendar, President Daniel Cureton commenced the Maya rite with the Earth Goddess Ixchel. She blessed everyone with sacred earth and blessings.

The closing came with a druid ceremony to the God Hu and the dismissing of the quarters.

Afterwards, there were reports of voices, spirits, ancestors and high emotions during the nesting and other rites. Many tears flowed this night!
